Gekigami Fan by SarurunKamui Gekigami Fan by SarurunKamui
Well now that I'm actually sleeping well and have energy and feel happy and healthy I actually FEEL like doing art, and so I did art, finally. Instead of homework, naturally. I've had a few pieces in mind for Gekigami recently and here's one of them!

I used this as a reference for the face: [link]

This fan has sold, but you can see what else is available in my Etsy shop: [link]

The clouds were fun. Lots of water, some ink, and a bit of luck... thank you!

I finally post something after months, and it's actually decent... I keep worrying that my hands will forget how to draw. XD So I'm glad that's not the case.

I have the same problem. I had one phase when I didn't draw anything for a month just because I didn't feel like it - I did have heaps of ideas, though - and when I finally picked up my tools, I was afraid nothing would work. Not to mention that I lost my pencil during that one month... :XD:
I guess drawing, painting, etc somehow becomes part of muscle memory and takes little effort to dig it up again.

Besides, your paintings like this are always amazing~

Thank you. ^^ Yeah, muscle memory is interesting like that. When I learned to play The Sun Rises on the piano, I remembered the movements really well but not the actual notes, so I can play most of the song from memory still, until I mess up and then I get lost.

Haha, I can still play some of the songs I learnt back in elementary school with recorder (we were kinda forced to learn to play that snot pipe). The funny thing is that I can't read notes at all. :'D
I suppose drawing is kinda like riding a bike. Well, partially. My mom used to be amazing at drawing but now all she can draw is a stick figure and a dice. :XD:

We were required to learn the recorder as well. I did get to learn the alto recorder as well, though, which was a bit more pleasant. My music class was actually really fun. XD

Notes are easy for me now, but I have difficulty processing them and imagining them as coherent sounds in my mind still. I haven't had a lot of training in that regard, but I've had some and it still continues to elude me. XP

Lucky you, I hated my music lessons. I have no sense of notes, my rhythm sense is just nonexistant and whatnot. :XD: But still, I enjoy listening to music. All kinds of it. From heavy metal to Korean pop music and classical to headache-inducing techno. :'D
Good thing I can always pretend I can play an instrument with Guitar Hero. :la:

There are a few kinds of music I decidedly don't like. A lot of songs annoy me for some reason or another. I think classical music has the fewest annoying songs of any genre, so I tend to like it a lot. Otherwise I'm very picky within genres...

And I can pretend to dance with Dance Dance Revolution. 8D

Quite alright with that. My grandma had a painting of a snarling tiger in her living room so I always found them fascinating. My brother inherited that picture, but I obtained the watercolor of two Japanese women (who look a lot like Queen Himiko and Princess Fuse if I remember correctly)standing in a park full of cherry blossoms.

Some of my relatives have a similar painting from China. It's always been one of my favorite images, and I think it's part of what kindled my interest in ink painting.
